Right now:
--My 366 project is still going strong
--I'm working on B's winter 2012 hat in my very first self-dyed yarn
--I'm reading a newly discovered Laura Ingalls Wilder book that I found on my bookshelf at work, its full of articles from her Missouri Ruralist days about life on the farm and in the country, making a home, and the ways of the world...its wonderful.
--I'm planning ahead for this years garden...I think I've got it just about figured out...now I just need to cut my dried bean wish list by 3/4....they're all so pretty its hard to say "no."
--I'm trying to make peace with the fact that this might be the winter we've been given this year...one with more rain than snow and more days above 40 degrees than below 0...it's strange...I'm working on it.
What are you up to these days?
Love your pictures. the weather sure has been strange. I'll take it this way from here on in. Any snow will leave my youngest very depressed. He's out of skiing for the rest of the season due to his broken leg. ugh.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, you're certainly having an eventful winter aren't you!? I hope the snow misses you for Ryan's sake, but I would love just one good storm so I could squeeze in a snowshoe in the woods before spring comes...
DeleteI'm glad this year the winter turned out to be mild. We are expecting our baby number 2 in June and so i feel safer on dry ground. I am learning how to knit and thinking about graduate school in the near future :) I have been very happy and at peace these days!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on baby number 2!!! Knitting can definitely be addictive once you get the hang of it! I hope you share pictures of what you make!
DeleteLove that picture with you at the table....very Little House on the Praire like! Since we live in Portland, Oregon...rain is the norm. We are supposed to have a stretch of 5 days with sun - bring it!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine a winter with just rain! Did you get any snow in that storm in the Pacific Northwest a few weeks ago?
DeleteYes...we got a couple of inches, but it was gone the same day. We lived in Iowa for 10 years and I had my fill of winter snow and cold....then we moved to Austin, Texas and had nothing but sun....loved that! Now we are here in Oregon and the weather is a nice mix of the 2 previous locations.
DeleteWe have so much in common, you posts are cracking me up! If you look back on my blog, I have a very similar photo with some tulips! I read your "about me" to my husband, he asked if you were my doppleganger. What part of Vermont do you live in? By the way, I also have a dried bean list that is entirely too long...
ReplyDeleteI thought the exact same thing when I found your blog! One of the funniest finds when I was going back through your archives was your list of all of the fruits and vegetables you wanted to preserve somehow and what you were going to make with them...I have the EXACT same list...
DeleteI live in Saxtons River...Southern VT, right near the NH border, my mom's side of the family is from Pawlet, which is near the NY border. What part of NY are you from?
Ha! I actually did complete that list, even though I didn't post everything. I was more lax about posting last year. I live in Schuylerville, which is right near the VT border, Manchester is about an hour away. Hearing about your teacher's strike definitely put things in perspective for me. I just came back from a depressing board meeting, our budget is way short next year, and we'll be making major cuts, but at least we're not on strike!
