Learning Colorwork

I made these little socks in an attempt to learn colorwork.  It was easier to make it look like something than I imagined, but on the other hand my finished product leaves much to be desired as far as tension goes.  I also forgot to knit through the back loop on the 1x1 ribbing for sock number one, making the ribbing a disaster, but once they're on chubby little legs, I figure it won't be so noticeable.  Either way, I think these are pretty sweet and they were a good project to learn on.

Anyone have any tips or resources on colorwork/stranded knitting?  I'd love to hear them!

Here on Rav.

  1. They're beautiful Erica!

I think they look great - especially for a first try! Did you block them yet? That's my big trick for colourwork - it always looks better once it's blocked.

  2. Thank you Erin!! No, I haven't blocked them yet, good to know that will help even the stitches out..in some places they look great and awful in other places (especially the stitches that were between my dpn's)!

  4. Wow. I'm impressed. I'm terrible at doing colorwork, I leave it to more talented knitters than myself.
